Custom furniture means a piece is drawn and built for your space rather than picked from a showroom floor. In Bali that is closer to the default than the exception, because most villas have dimensions, ceiling heights and openings that standard sizes were never designed around.
The practical question is rarely whether to go custom. It is who builds it, what they build it from and whether the piece will still look right after two rainy seasons.
That is where the work actually differs. Anyone can produce a drawing. Getting a joint that holds in eighty percent humidity, a finish that does not lift near the coast and a delivery that arrives when it was promised takes a workshop rather than a middleman.

There is no minimum order. Most of our work covers a room or a whole property, but if you need one table, we will make one table.
Design and Manufacturing Under One Roof
Most furniture businesses in Bali do one of two things. They design and then place the work with a third party workshop, or they manufacture to drawings someone else supplied. We do both, in the same building, and that changes what we can offer.
A piece can be drawn, prototyped and adjusted without anything leaving the premises. When a dimension turns out to be wrong, or you change your mind about a timber halfway through, the revision goes straight to the workshop floor instead of through a supplier who has no reason to hurry.
It also means we quote from real production cost rather than from a markup on someone else’s quote, and that we see quality problems before they reach you rather than after you have paid for delivery.

Materials That Last in Bali’s Climate
Furniture that performs well in a dry climate often fails here. Humidity swings, salt air near the coast and strong sun all shorten the life of the wrong material, and most of the pieces we are asked to repair or replace failed on material choice rather than on construction.

Tell Us What You Need
A photograph of the space, rough dimensions and a reference image or two are enough to begin. You do not need drawings or a specification.

We Measure and Draw
For projects in the Bali area we come and measure ourselves. A piece built to a client supplied dimension that turns out to be wrong helps nobody, and site measurement costs less than a remake.

Quote and Drawing
You receive an itemised quote and a drawing of each piece. Itemised matters, because it lets you adjust the scope rather than accept or reject the whole thing.

Production
We send progress photographs as pieces come together. This matters most for clients who are not in Bali while the work happens.

Delivery and Installation
We deliver and install across Bali with our own team. Built in joinery is fitted on site, and we handle the coordination that goes with it.

How Much Does Custom Furniture Cost in Bali?
Custom furniture is priced per piece rather than per room or per square metre. Four things move the number.

Project Snapshot: Custom Kitchen Joinery at Soho Blue, Canggu
Bali Best Design designed and built the kitchen joinery for Soho Blue, a private villa in Kayu Tulang, Canggu. The cabinetry, the marble waterfall island and the splashback detailing were all produced in our own workshop and fitted by our own team.
It is a good example of what built in work looks like when the design and the manufacturing sit in the same place. The navy cabinetry, the blue veined marble and the recessed LED lighting were specified together and made to match, rather than sourced separately and hoped for.

When We Are Not the Right Fit
We would rather say this here than after a quote.
- If you need furniture within two or three weeks, we are probably not your answer. Made to order takes time, and a workshop promising otherwise is either not busy or not being straight with you.
- If you want a direct copy of another maker’s design, we will decline. We will happily build something close in spirit, adapted to your dimensions and to materials that suit this climate.
- If the budget is genuinely tight, ready made will serve you better than custom, and there is no shame in that. Custom earns its cost when the space is unusual or the piece has to last.
- If you need construction work, that is not us. We design interiors and build furniture. Civil works stay with your contractor.
Common Mistakes When Ordering Custom Furniture in Bali
- Specifying a material for how it looks rather than for where it will sit. Rattan on an exposed terrace is the most common version of this.
- Skipping site measurement to save a little money, then paying for a remake. Wall openings and floors in Bali villas are rarely as square as the plan suggests.
- Leaving hardware unspecified. It is a small line on a quote and the first thing to fail near the coast.
- Changing the design after production has started. Adjustments are cheap at the drawing stage and expensive once timber has been cut.
- Ordering from photographs alone, without seeing a timber sample or a finish in person. Screens do not show grain or sheen honestly.
Where We Are and Areas We Serve
Our workshop and office are on Jl. Persada No. 20 in Kerobokan, Kuta Utara, about ten minutes from Canggu and twenty from Seminyak. We are open Monday to Saturday, nine to five.
You are welcome to visit. There is usually work in progress on the floor, and timber samples and finishes are much easier to judge in person than on a screen.
We deliver and install across Bali, including Canggu, Seminyak, Kerobokan, Umalas, Pererenan, Ubud, Sanur, Uluwatu and the Bukit. We also ship to Lombok and the Gili Islands, and we handle export shipping for overseas clients.

It depends on the piece and on the workshop schedule. A single simple piece is the quickest category, a full room set takes longer because pieces are finished together for consistency of colour and grain, and built in joinery takes longest because it involves site measurement and fitting. Tell us your deadline at the quote stage and we will say honestly whether it is achievable.
We can build something close in spirit, adapted to your dimensions and to materials suited to this climate. We will not produce a direct copy of another maker’s design, and the adapted version usually fits the space better anyway.
