Interior Design and Custom Furniture in Lombok, Made in Bali

Design and custom furniture for villas, hotels and restaurants across Lombok, made in our own Bali workshops and delivered by our own team.

Quick Answer: What We Do in Lombok

We are a Bali based interior design studio. We provide interior design in Lombok for villas, hotels and restaurants, and we make the custom furniture that goes into them. The design work runs from our studio in Bali. The custom furniture is built in our own workshops in Kerobokan and Jepara, then delivered to your site on our own trucks. You can take the whole service or just the furniture.

Who We Work With in Lombok

Boutique Hotels and Guesthouses

Furnishing rooms, restaurants and shared areas, often in phases as a build completes.

Private Villa Owners

Building or renovating a home on the south coast or near the Gilis.

Restaurants, Cafes and Beach Clubs

Furniture that takes heavy daily use and can be reordered in matching batches later.

Rental and Investment Villas

If your villa earns its living on nightly bookings, the interior is the product. It has to photograph well and survive guest use.

Our guide to designing an Airbnb villa interior goes into the rental side in more depth, and our commercial interior design playbook covers what changes when a space is public rather than private.

Project Snapshot: Rooftop Restaurant Furniture at Boni Beach, Selong Belanak

Bali Best Buy Furniture supplied and installed the furniture for the rooftop restaurant at Boni Beach Lombok, a boutique hotel and villas in Selong Belanak on the south coast, in July 2026. To be clear about our role, this was a furniture commission. The space itself was not designed by us.

The terrace runs the length of the building under a timber pergola, open on both sides, with the sea on one aspect and fields and hills on the other. We supplied solid timber dining tables on slim pedestal bases, dining chairs with striped upholstered seats, and bar stools for the counter. Rendered banquettes run down both edges, so the loose furniture had to sit correctly against fixed seating already in place.

The conditions are demanding. Open on all sides, close to the coast, in daily guest use, with salt on the wind and sun through the pergola for much of the day.

Bali Best Buy Furniture documents the Boni Beach rooftop project in full on its own site, with further photographs of the finished terrace.

Interior Design for Lombok Villas, Hotels and Restaurants

Our interior design work covers layout, specification, materials, lighting and furniture selection. It is the same service our Bali clients receive, delivered to a site across the water.

Designing for an owner who is not standing next to you is not new for us. Our guesthouse project in the Seychelles was designed entirely from Bali, with the owner’s own team building on site. The same was true of a studio guesthouse in Mauritius. Lombok is a short flight by comparison, and our team travels there for projects.

To be straightforward, we do not yet have a completed interior design project in Lombok. What we have is an established practice, a delivery record on the island through our furniture business, and a team that has already been on site there. We would rather tell you that now than let you find out later.

Shown here: a guesthouse in the Seychelles and a studio guesthouse in Mauritius, both designed remotely from our Bali studio.

Our full guide to villa interior design in Lombok covers what changes when you specify from Bali, and what to settle before anything is ordered.

Custom Furniture for Lombok, Made in Our Own Workshops

The furniture side of the business is Bali Best Buy Furniture, our sister company. It has been manufacturing since 2005, with in house production in Kerobokan and a second base in Jepara.

All of it is custom furniture, made to order. Dining tables, chairs, beds, wardrobes, cabinets, sofas, bar stools and outdoor pieces. Teak, suar, mahogany and rattan are the materials we work with most.

Owning the workshop changes what we can offer. We are not marking up someone else’s catalogue. If a table needs to be sixty centimetres shorter to fit your terrace, we make it sixty centimetres shorter. If a finish is wrong for a coastal site, we change it before it ships rather than after.

It also means design and furniture do not have to be two separate conversations with two separate companies. A specification we draw is a specification we can build.

You do not have to take both. Plenty of Lombok clients come to us for furniture alone, with their own architect or contractor already appointed. That is a normal way to work with us.w

Recent Projects in Bali

These are Bali projects rather than Lombok ones, shown so you can see how we work. Lokalé Pererenan and the Soho Blue villa kitchen in Canggu are photographed after completion. The Lokalé management building in Kayu Tulang, Alpha Prime in Berawa, Victor House in Kerobokan and the Canangsari villa are renders.

What You Get

If You Take the Interior Design Service

If You Take Custom Furniture Only

Either Way

Where the Furniture for a Lombok Build Usually Comes From

Lombok has its own furniture makers. The sector is young and still small, and it is not widely known outside the island, so most owners building here still source from Bali or Java.

Bali is the centre for bespoke and hospitality furniture. Java, and Jepara in particular, carries the volume manufacturing and the hardwood tradition. For a full villa or hotel order, that is usually where the material and the capacity are.

Why Our Clients Choose a Bali Maker

We will not tell you what a Lombok workshop can or cannot do, because we do not have that visibility. What we can tell you is why our own clients choose a Bali maker: track record, and timber. We have manufactured since 2005 from our own workshop in Kerobokan, and we have direct access to Jepara, which is where the hardwood comes from. That matters for consistency across a large order and for matching pieces two years later.

What This Means for Your Build

Either way, most of what fills a Lombok villa arrives from somewhere else. Lead times are longer than in Bali, changing your mind after delivery is expensive, and a damaged piece cannot be swapped the same week. We sit on the manufacturing side of that chain, so when something needs changing we change it at source.

How the Bali to Lombok Route Works

Lombok is close enough to Bali that we do not containerise anything. Your furniture travels on our own vehicles, from a pickup for a small order up to a light duty truck for a full villa or restaurant. It goes by road and ferry, and our team travels with it.

Why Handling Points Matter More Than Distance

Container freight means handling the same piece again and again, and every move is a chance to mark a finish or knock a corner. Our route has two. Loaded once in Kerobokan, unloaded once at your property.

Process Container freight Our own truck
Leaving the workshop Loaded into a container Loaded onto our truck
In transit Container, port, ship, port, truck Road and ferry, same truck throughout
Handling points Six or more Two
Customs Export and import clearance None, it is a domestic move
Who installs A local crew at the far end Our own team, who travelled with it

Because it is a domestic move there is no customs clearance and no export paperwork with a third party. We still pack properly, because timber moves and finishes mark, but a piece that stays on one truck is handled far less than one passing through a port.

What Actually Sets the Lead Time

Lead time depends on order size, how much of it repeats, curing time for finishes, and the ferry schedule. Site readiness matters too, because furniture delivered into an unfinished building has to be stored somewhere and storage is where damage happens. We give you a schedule once your specification is confirmed.

Who Unloads at the Other End

Installation is handled by our own team, not a local crew we have never met. The crating and wrapping leave with us. The people carrying your dining table into the room work for the workshop that built it.

An island site works differently again. There are no vehicles on the Gilis, so the last leg is a boat and a horse cart. Our guide to Gili Islands villa furniture sets out what that changes.

Materials That Survive the South Lombok Coast

South Lombok is harder on interiors than most of Bali. The coast is exposed. Wind carries salt inland. Sun is direct, and many of the best spaces are open sided.

For a commercial site, our guide to restaurant furniture in Lombok works through the timber, finishes, upholstery and fixings in detail.

Component Specify Avoid
Timber, exposed Teak Untreated or softwood
Timber, sheltered Suar or mahogany Suar in open weather
Finish Oiled or marine grade Interior lacquer
Upholstery Outdoor grade fabric, quick dry foam Indoor fabric
Fixings Stainless or coated hardware Ordinary steel

Timber

Solid hardwood handles it well when it is finished correctly. Teak is the reliable choice for anything exposed. Suar is beautiful in wide slab tops but wants shelter. Rattan belongs under cover, not in weather.

Finishes

Finishes matter more than the timber. An indoor lacquer will fail on an open terrace. Oiled and marine grade finishes cost more at the start and last considerably longer.

Upholstery

Upholstery is where most people underestimate the conditions. Outdoor grade fabric is not a luxury on a coastal terrace, it is the difference between recovering seats once and recovering them every season.

Fixings

Metal fixings are the quiet failure point. Ordinary steel will rust within sight of the sea. Stainless or coated hardware is worth insisting on, even where nobody will see it.

Designing From Bali, Delivering in Lombok

The question we get asked first is how a Bali based studio manages a project on another island.

The design phase does not require us on site daily. Drawings, specifications, renders and revisions happen from our studio, the same way they did for our Seychelles and Mauritius projects. Between visits we work from photographs, video walkthroughs and measurements taken on site.

Site visits happen when the project needs them rather than on a fixed rhythm, and we agree the schedule with you at the start.

What we do not do is act as your main contractor. If your project needs somebody supervising trades on site every day, you need a local project manager as well as an interior designer.

We have written up how that handover actually works, including what a builder receives and where remote builds go wrong, in our guide to working with a contractor on a remote interior design project.

Common Mistakes Furnishing a Lombok Villa

Ordering From Photographs Without Dimensions

Rooms in Lombok villas are often more open and less rectangular than the plan suggests, so pieces that look right online arrive too large for the space.

Specifying Indoor Furniture for Semi Outdoor Areas

Most of the best spaces are covered but open. That is neither indoors nor outdoors, and it needs to be specified deliberately.

Leaving Furniture to the End of the Build

Production and delivery take time. Order late and the furniture arrives after handover, which for a rental villa means weeks of lost bookings.

Buying Single Pieces From Many Suppliers

Matching a broken chair two years later is close to impossible unless the original came from one workshop in a batch.

Forgetting How the Interior Will Photograph

For a rental, the listing photographs are what guests actually buy. A room that feels pleasant in person can still photograph flat.

Furnishing specifically for short-term rental brings its own decisions. Our guide to villa furniture in Lombok covers what to specify once, what to keep spare, and what not to spend on.

When We Are Not the Right Fit

We would rather lose an enquiry than take a project that will disappoint.

We are not the right choice if you need a main contractor managing trades on site daily. We are an interior design and custom furniture business, not a construction company.

We are also not the right choice if you need furniture immediately, or if you want the cheapest option available.

And if your project is in Bali rather than Lombok, our Bali interior design service is the better fit. This page is for Lombok work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Our team travels to Lombok for projects, and we agree the visit schedule with you at the start.

Both. Our studio and workshops are in Bali, and we serve clients in Lombok from there.

The whole island, though most enquiries come from the south coast around Kuta, Selong Belanak, Mawun and Mandalika, and from the Gili islands.

Yes. Many Lombok clients come to us for furniture alone, with their own architect or contractor already appointed.

Production comes first, then the drive and ferry from Bali. How long depends on the size of the order, how much of it repeats, and the finishes involved. We give you a schedule once your specification is confirmed.

Our own team. We load in Kerobokan, travel with the delivery, and install at your property. The people placing your furniture work for the workshop that built it.

Yes. We provide drawings and specifications your team can build from, and we are used to working alongside other consultants.

Not yet. We have delivered furniture on the island, including the rooftop restaurant at Boni Beach in Selong Belanak, and we have designed complete interiors remotely for clients overseas.

Not automatically. The south Lombok coast is more exposed than much of Bali. Finishes, fabrics and fixings should be specified for that exposure.

We pack for the journey specifically to avoid it, and your furniture stays on one truck rather than passing through a port. If a piece does arrive marked, tell us and we deal with it directly. It came from our own workshop and travelled with our own team, so a repair or a replacement does not involve chasing a third party.

Yes. Commercial and hospitality work is a large part of what the workshops produce.
