Shipping Furniture From Bali to Lombok: The Step-by-Step Delivery Route
Most owners fitting out a villa, boutique resort or restaurant in Lombok hit the same question early. Custom pieces made in Bali still have to cross the Lombok Strait. Every extra pair of hands between the workshop and the site is another chance for a scratch, a delay or a missing bolt.
Getting custom furniture to Lombok is a domestic road and sea crossing. It is not international container freight, and there is no customs clearance. The pieces ride on a truck. The truck rolls onto a ferry, then drives on to your site.
Here is how shipping furniture from Bali to Lombok works in practice. It covers what can hold it up and how to plan backwards from a handover date.
How Shipping Furniture From Bali to Lombok Actually Works
The route from our workshop to your project follows one simple chain. When you order custom furniture in Lombok from us, the pieces are not handed between freight agents or packed into a shipping container at a depot.
Instead, the furniture travels in our own truck from our Kerobokan workshop to Padangbai harbour on Bali’s east coast. At Padangbai the truck boards the roll-on roll-off ferry to Lembar Port in West Lombok. Once the vessel docks, the same truck continues by road to your site.

Because the truck rolls straight onto the ferry, the cargo is loaded once at the workshop and unloaded once at your property. There is no transfer to a warehouse, a port crane or a second vehicle. Fewer handling points mean fewer chances to knock or lose a piece.
Protection and Packaging for the Sea Crossing
A crossing means hours of road vibration on both islands plus the ferry itself. Finished timber, upholstery and stone tops all need protection from rubbing against each other in the truck.
Every piece that leaves the workshop is wrapped in single-face corrugated cardboard, cut and shaped to that piece. A table gets a wrap that follows its top and legs, a chair one that follows its frame. Shaping the card to the piece keeps it tight, so it does not slip off a corner halfway to Lembar.

Upholstery gets a plastic sheet over the fabric before the card goes on. Chairs travel in white protective wrapping, strapped and labelled. The photo below shows a Lombok delivery as it arrived on site, still wrapped.

The Delivery Chain: Stage by Stage
Each stage has one owner, and the furniture stays on the same truck from the first stage to the last.
| Delivery Stage | Who Handles It | What Happens |
|---|---|---|
| Workshop departure | Our Kerobokan workshop team | Each piece wrapped in shaped single-face cardboard and loaded onto our own truck |
| Before leaving Bali | Our team | Port information from BPTD and Satpel Pelabuhan Lembar checked; the client told of any expected delay |
| Padangbai to Lembar | Ferry operator, with our truck on board | Roll-on roll-off crossing; the furniture stays on the truck |
| Lembar to site | Our driver | Road journey to your property |
| Site handover | Our installation team | Unloading, unwrapping, assembly, placement and any on-site repairs |
Sea Conditions, Ferry Schedules, and Port Monitoring
How Long Is the Padangbai to Lembar Crossing?
The Padangbai to Lembar crossing covers about 38 nautical miles and averages around four and a half hours. At least 13 ferries serve the route each day on the BPTD NTB schedule, as JawaPos reported in July 2026. Queues and loading time come on top of that.
What Can Delay the Crossing?
Port queues can be long. In June 2026 the Indonesia Shipping Gazette reported vehicle lines of about three kilometres heading into Padangbai at their peak, on a route then served by 24 vessels.
Weather matters too. BMKG, Indonesia’s weather agency, treats winds above 21 knots and waves above 2.5 metres as a risk for ferries. In June 2023 it forecast waves of up to four metres in the southern Lombok Strait, according to Antara Bali.
The ports also close for Nyepi, Bali’s Day of Silence. In 2026 Padangbai shut from 4 a.m. on 19 March until 11.30 a.m. on 20 March, on the schedule published by Antara.
Rather than guessing, our team checks port information from BPTD (Balai Pengelola Transportasi Darat) and Satpel Pelabuhan Lembar before the truck leaves for Lombok. If a delay is expected, we tell the client before the furniture sets off, not after it is stuck at the harbour.
Planning Timeline: Working Back From Your Handover Date
Our normal schedule is four weeks of production, then one week for delivery and installation. Work backwards from your opening or handover date with that five-week window in mind. Confirm the order early enough to leave room for styling and linen before guests arrive.
- Check whether your delivery week falls near Nyepi, when the ferry stops.
- Allow for port queues on busy weekends and holiday periods.
- Have the site ready for installation: rooms clear, floors finished and access open for a truck.

On-Site Installation and Local Workshop Support
A delivery is not finished when the truck stops at your gate. Solid timber tables, sofas and bed frames have to be carried into finished rooms without marking new walls and floors.
Our own team handles installation on site in Lombok. We unload, unwrap, assemble and place each piece in the room it was made for.
If a piece arrives damaged, we repair it on site. When a repair needs a workshop, our sister company Bali Best Buy Furniture has one in Lombok. It sits on Jalan Raya Selong Belanak, Desa Penujak, Praya Barat. The piece is fixed on the island instead of going back across the strait.
Projects on the Gili Islands work differently, since there are no motor vehicles there. Our guide to Gili Islands villa furniture explains how furniture moves from the Lombok coast by boat and horse cart.
Hospitality Proof: Boni Beach Lombok
Bali Best Buy Furniture, our sister company, supplied and installed the furniture for the rooftop restaurant at Boni Beach Lombok, a boutique hotel and villas at Selong Belanak. The job covered teak dining tables and chairs and a communal table with banquette seating on an open coastal rooftop.
The same route delivered and installed furniture, including spa beds, for a hospitality project in Kuta, Lombok, in October 2026.

Our sister company makes the furniture in its own workshops. The people who build a piece are the people who answer for it. Their range and process for the island are on Bali Best Buy Furniture in Lombok.
